and is offered from
September through April.
TGIW! is for all who have hectic schedules and a need for a midweek
sharing of God’s grace. Come for supper between 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. in Parish
Hall at the TGIW! Food Court (watch the Messenger for the weekly menu), then
stay for one of the many classes, music opportunities or activities for all
ages beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The nursery is available beginning at 6 p.m.
Now you are one of the big kids! We
have a Wednesday night class just for you
that meets in the same room as Sunday
School. Parents are welcome and
encouraged to visit on a drop-in basis or
ongoing. We will play games, make
things, and even learn a song or two.

Adult Classes
DivorceCare
A nationally recognized program that
provides an ecumenical, faith-based group
learning and support experience. The
group time features videotape seminars with
nationally recognized experts on divorce and
recovery topics followed by group discussion
and take-home support materials. If
you know someone who is currently struggling
with issues related to separation and
divorce, please tell them about this
opportunity. The 13-week cycle will be
lead by Pastor Linda and other local clergy.
The group meets in Room 100 at 6:30 p.m.
The 5 Practices of Fruitful Congregations
Pastor Kay will lead this class using Dr.
Schnase's book. This class will be
held in Room 218-219A.
The Parables of Jesus
A seven week study of the parables. We
will use the Bible and a new resource book
by Bernard Scott, "Re-Imagine the World: An
Introduction to the Parables of Jesus".
In his re-imagined world, called the Kingdom
of God, Jesus presents his followers with a
new option for living that contrasts with
the world of the everyday. Drawing on
Bible and Scott's reflections, we will try
to see how the parables can renew our
understanding of the Kingdom of God and the
world in which we live. This class is
lead by Roger Betsworth and will be held in
Room 217A at 6:30 p.m.
WOW =
Women of the Word
Join WOW ~ Women of the Word on Wednesdays
at 6:30 p.m. as they begin a new book study
on Nov. 5th
in the Lamb Room
(upper level off Parish Hall).
Come for a family meal at 5:30 and stay for
this six-week study on "Having a Mary Heart
in a Martha World"; Joanna Weaver, author:
"The life of a woman today isn't really all
that different from that of Mary and Martha
in the New Testament. Like Mary, you long
to sit at the Lord's feet...but the daily
demands of a busy world just won't leave you
alone. Like Martha, you love Jesus and
really want to serve him...yes you struggle
with weariness, resentment, and feelings of
inadequacy. Then comes Jesus, into the
midst of your busy life, to extend the same
invitation he issued long ago to the two
sisters from Bethany. Tenderly, he invites
you to choose "the better part"--a joyful
life of intimacy with him that flows
naturally into loving service."
Healthy Lifestyles
If it's been awhile since you attended an
adult class, or you don't quite know where
you "fit in" here at FUMC, this could be
just the easy-going class to "try on" some
ways that may be useful to moderate a
balance in busy lives. Marylee
Vanderpool will help you discover how you
might "fit in" to the Body of Christ while
you continue to work, raise your family and
find some time to take care of yourself,
too.
